Project Overview
ON-X (Linwood Sport and Community Centre) is a modern, high-quality leisure destination designed to support both everyday community use and regional to national-level sporting events. The centre brings together a wide range of indoor sports facilities under one roof, creating a flexible and inclusive environment for athletes, clubs, and local residents.
The project was developed in collaboration with cre8architecture and B3 Architects, combining architectural clarity with robust, performance-driven design.
Design Approach
From the outset, the design focused on adaptability and longevity. Rather than creating a single-use facility, the building accommodates multiple sports and event formats. As a result, spaces can host training sessions, competitions, and large gatherings with equal ease.
Clear circulation routes support intuitive wayfinding. At the same time, visual connections between activity areas energise the interior and reinforce the sense of a shared civic destination.
Sport, Community & Performance
ON-X supports a broad range of sports activities, including venues suitable for regional and national competitions. However, the building also prioritises local access. Community groups, schools, and casual users all benefit from the same high-quality facilities.
Importantly, the centre balances performance requirements with comfort. Good daylight, generous volumes, and durable finishes create an environment that feels welcoming rather than institutional.
A Civic Landmark
Beyond its sporting role, ON-X acts as a social anchor for Linwood. The architecture gives the centre a strong public presence while remaining approachable and inclusive. In doing so, the building reinforces sport as a shared civic experience rather than a specialist activity.
