Biomorphis designed the transformation and renovation of a derelict house on the island of Møn, Denmark.
The project set out to revive the building while preserving the qualities that define its character and relationship to place.

Design Intent
The design approach focused on a reinterpretation of the existing spaces, using minimal yet carefully considered interventions. Rather than imposing a new spatial order, the project worked with the original structure to reveal and enhance its inherent qualities.

Spatial Strategy
The original layout of the house was largely retained, allowing the character of the building to remain legible. On the ground floor, the spaces were reconfigured into a generous open living area, improving flow, light, and everyday usability while maintaining a clear relationship with the house’s original organisation.

Architectural Approach
By limiting interventions to what was essential, the renovation emphasised clarity, restraint, and continuity. This measured approach allowed the existing architecture to take precedence, creating a calm and coherent living environment rooted in its Danish context.

Outcome
The project demonstrates how careful transformation rather than radical alteration can breathe new life into an existing building. The result is a renewed home that balances contemporary living with respect for the building’s history and setting.
