The Old Ale and Porter House is an early 18th century single storey cottage adjoined to a mid 18th century 2-storey house, currently combined as one with altered openings. It is a category C Listed Building and belongs to the Tyninghame Conservation Area.
Biomorphis has designed a new new timber single storey studio to replace 2 existing stores. The roof profile of the studio matches the height existing boundary wall conditions. The walls and roof are finished with untreated red western cedar cladding while a new gabion wall retains the upper garden edge and new sandstone flagstones pave the new sheltered yard.
Biomorphis also altered the inside of the listed house to provide new living spaces with the con version of existing attic space to form 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the creation of a new stair, internal structural alterations to form an open living/kitchen area and new roof lights.
