PIerre Forissier

   

Pierre Forissier is a qualified registered architect (ARB & DPLG) who graduated from the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Paris Belleville in France.

Pierre is a former Teaching Fellow and Architectural Design tutor of the University of Edinburgh. He has taught and reviewed architectural design across all years at the ESALA. He has led the Architectural Design Unit “Synthetic Formations” and the explorative course “Digital Ecologies”. The course provided an introduction to the theoretical and practical technologies that underpin digital generative systems coupled with hybrid analogue/digital models. Pierre regularly collaborates and interacts with the School of Design at the Edinburgh College of Art. He also currently reviews final year architecture projects at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.

Having worked as a designer and an architect in Britain for over 15 years, including for Zaha Hadid in London where he was project architect for Cairo Expo City, and also collaborations with Kengo Kuma Associates and GROSS.MAX, Pierre co-founded the practice biomorphis in Edinburgh. biomorphis is a collaborative design lab based on adaptive systems, sustainability & art. biomorphis is currently progressing an elevated pathway project in Edinburgh aiming at developing the city’s cycle network. The design of the main structure is based on a computer-generated algorithm which addresses local conditions and buildability. biomorphis has recently been commissioned for the Edinburgh International Festival show “Synthetic Biology: Where Organic Meets Digital” to produce live interactive architectural projections.

 
 
Jack Green    

Jack is an Edinburgh based architect who studied at Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal Danish Academy of fine Arts.

Jack has been teaching at ESALA (Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture) for over 7 years. He has taught at all levels of the school as a design tutor at both under-graduate and post-graduate level. Jack has also been an invited guest critic at other UK schools of Architecture.

Jack has considerable knowledge of the teaching program at ESALA and takes a keen interest in the development of students across different stages of the school. He is able to focus tutoring in a way that helps students improve and progress and has a detailed understanding of the assessment criteria to ensure work addresses the required learning outcomes. Jack has won a number of university teaching awards that recognise high rates of students' satisfaction and success.

Jack has been working as a Designer and Architect for over 10 years including for David Kohn Architects and Smith and Taylor in London and John C Hope in Edinburgh. He has been involved in the masterplan of the Edinburgh Universities estate at Holyrood/Pleasance over a number of years as well as arts and urban design projects across the UK.
